Dates - Course dates are as follows, additional courses can be arranged for groups of 3 or more for dates as needed:
Prior Experience and Fitness - Some prior hillwalking and navigation experience is ideally required, you should also be fit and healthy enough to manage walking in the mountains for 6-7 hours in a day. If you are unsure whether this course is suitable for you then please get in touch.
Ages - The Mountain Training Hill & Mountains Skills scheme allows participants of 12-years and over, if under-18 the parent/legal guardian must also attend the course as a legal requirement.
What is included? - All instruction and learning resources, certificate upon completion, all group safety equipment, use of maps and compasses.
What is not included? - Registration fee with Mountain Training, personal clothing and equipment, accommodation, transport, feeding and guarantees for the weather!
Registration for the Scheme - To receive the benefits of the Hill & Mountain Skills scheme each participant must register for it with Mountain Training, this is a one off fee of £20 for ages 18+ and FREE for 12-17 year olds which gives you a range of excellent benefits:
Access to both Hill and Mountain Skills courses
A copy of the Safety on Mountains book worth £6.99
A navigational timing card
A certificate of attendance from either or both courses
Lifetime use of the Digital Logbook for recording all mountain related activities
To register you need to create an account on the Mountain Training Candidate Management System and then register for Hill & Mountain Skills (HMS). This registration cost is in addition to the Mountain Addiction course fee.
